📍Online + In-Person — Oakville & Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Ontario
Are you a high school student looking to earn community service hours while making a meaningful difference? At EduConnect (EUEC), we offer virtual volunteer opportunities where you can support newcomer youth through tutoring or event assistance — all while gaining valuable skills, experience, and volunteer hours toward your graduation.
Available Volunteer Roles
-
Academic Tutor
Commitment: Minimum 1 hour/week
As a tutor, you’ll be matched with students (Grades 1–8) who need help adjusting to the Canadian school system or improving in subjects such as:
- English (ESL, grammar, writing, reading comprehension)
- Mathematics (general math, algebra, word problems)
- Science (general science, biology, chemistry, computer science)
- Mandarin (grammar, reading, vocabulary)
You’ll be guiding students through core concepts, helping with homework, and encouraging confidence in learning. Most sessions are conducted 1-on-1 or in small groups via Zoom or Google Meet.
-
Event Volunteer
Commitment: Flexible — based on event hours (in-person + online)
Event volunteers assist with both in-person and online programs such as:
-Holiday events (e.g., winter parties, cultural celebrations)—> in person
-Art shows and showcases—>in person
-Workshops and meetups—>online
-Summer camps —>both
You might help with registration, set-up and clean-up, activity stations, guiding students, or online chat moderation — depending on the format. Events are a great option for volunteers who enjoy hands-on roles, teamwork, and occasional commitments.
Can I Apply for Both Types of Volunteers?
Yes — you’re welcome to apply for both tutoring and event roles, as long as you’re able to manage your time and stay committed to your responsibilities. We encourage well-rounded involvement, but it’s important to stay organized and dependable!
