The Three Levels of Debate At EUEC

Our debate program is designed to suit students at different stages of learning, progressing through three levels to ensure a well-rounded experience:

  • Focus: Introduction to basic debate concepts, such as forming arguments, understanding structure, and respectful communication.

    Activities: Students engage in friendly debates on familiar topics, learning how to craft a strong argument and respond to counterpoints.

    Goal: Build foundational skills in logical reasoning and public speaking.

  • Focus: Develop more advanced skills, including research, critical analysis, and structured rebuttals.

    Activities: Students take on more complex debate topics, working in teams and learning to anticipate opposing arguments.

    Goal: Gain a deeper understanding of debate strategy, improve teamwork, and enhance persuasive communication.

  • Focus: Master the art of debate with high-level skills in formal debate formats, including cross-examinations and timed presentations. This level is designed to prepare students for real-world competitive debating environments.

    Activities: Students participate in mock competitions, formal debates, and may have the opportunity to join actual debate competitions and events outside EUEC, allowing them to apply their skills in real-world settings.

    Goal: Achieve proficiency in debating complex issues and become confident public speakers capable of thinking quickly on their feet. By the end of this level, students will be well-prepared for competitive debates and public speaking challenges.

Certificates of Completion

At the end of each level, students receive a Certificate of Completion recognizing their achievements. These certificates celebrate the hard work and growth students have demonstrated throughout the program, providing them with a sense of accomplishment and motivation to continue their debate journey.
